Photo by country_boy_shaneLike most other working professionals, I spend a great deal of my time in my workplace. This is because I work in a demanding field and I want to ensure that my position is secure in the present, competitive job market.

My career is certainly an important part of my life. However, my career and my life are two completely separate entities.

Today, I can confidently say that I am the same person that I was several years before I accepted my position with my current employer.

I wholeheartedly believe that many professionals become too involved in upholding their corporate images while off of the clock.

I am only paid for a predetermined amount of time each week. My employer gets exactly what he pays for. When I am on the clock, I give my employer 100% effort. Once that time is up, I indulge in the activities that make me happy.

Status is important in this society. However, both my accomplishments and my personality determine my status. My career choice is simply an interesting part of my life.

I am a spouse, a parent, someone’s child, a friend, and the life of the party. I am an individual that is defined by far more than a paycheck or a sign-in ID.

Today, I focus on non-work related aspects of my life. My family makes me the person I am. My hobbies and interests are components of my personality. However, my chosen career field is simply the way I maintain my quality of life.

1. Do I flaunt my career in order to make others respect me?
2. Have I allowed my career to consume too much of my personal time?
3. When I introduce myself, is my work the first thing I talk about?

I leave the stresses of my career in the office.

Photo by SimplySchmoopieAt times, my career can be all consuming. Constantly bending over backwards to please difficult clients and unreasonable managers is draining, to say the least.

However, I leave work related stresses in the office once 5pm rolls around. It is called happy hour for a reason and that is because I get to drive home to my family.

My employer pays for only 40 hours of my time each week, no more, no less. Therefore, I provide my company with 40 hours of my undivided attention each week, no more, no less.

Though I am content with my career, it is really a labor of love for my family. I subject myself to the stresses of my career in order to support my family. My family is at the center of all my decisions.

I strive to banish work related thoughts while I am at home. Even though it is only natural to think about advancing my career, allowing these thoughts to consume my mind outside of the office is unfair to my family.

My family deserves my undivided attention. My kids deserve to have me present at every soccer game. My spouse is entitled to spending quality time with me each evening.

I deserve to devote my personal time to activities that I find joyful.

Today, I turn off my work phone and avoid checking my business email while I am at home. My personal time is shared between my family and myself. The stresses of my career are left in the office!

3. How can I streamline my schedule to devote as much time as possible to my family?

Wealth is abundant in my life.

Photo by Hamed SaberI am rich in every area of my life. My relationships and my career are overflowing with accomplishments. I am wealthy because I have a surplus of things that bring me joy.

The reserves of my soul are filled to capacity with the things I value. I enjoy an overabundance of love, acceptance, forgiveness, health, and security in my life. I measure my wealth by counting my many blessings.

There is no shortage of blessings in my life because I work hard to position myself on the way to victory. When I purposefully pursue spiritual wealth, material prosperity follows me like a shadow wherever I go.

My friends and family enrich my life with their love. Feeling loved and accepted by my family makes me rich. I value the people in my life because I count relationships as one of life’s greatest treasures.

I am wealthy in my business and career because I am meticulous in my plans. I seek the council of the wise and I plan ahead carefully. When I take risks in the business world, they pay off in financial gains.

I am confident that the decisions that I make today are driving me forward toward even more wealth and success. Wisdom guides me to make choices that bring me closer to triumph. I obtain wealth by acquiring knowledge.

Today, I am thankful for the wealth that I possess and I look ahead to gaining even more wealth through wisdom, relationships and business. I envision myself wealthy in every area of my life and work toward that reality.

My hands are always full of possibilities.

With direction in one hand and passion in the other, my hands are always full of possibilities.

In order to free my hands to grab hold of passion and direction, I must let go of unimportant distractions. I examine my life daily and rid myself of things that crowd my grasp.

Getting rid of the meaningless things that simply take up space is the first step to freeing myself. My hands cannot be filled with mundane worries. I do not have room for negativity, fear, or doubt. So I let them go.

Direction helps me see where I am going. I know where I want to be because my vision is clear.

Each step I take brings me closer to my goals. Even when faced with uncertainty, one thing I know is that my next step is always forward. I have resolved to never turn back.

I deserve to arrive at my destination without detour.

Unlike the autumn leaves, I do not get carried away on every whim that blows my way. My feet are planted firmly on the ground. I reflect daily in order to refine my focus and pursue my passions.

Passion is the fuel that keeps me going. I am driven by my passion. Loving what I do helps me to want to do my best. I am passionate about my career and my relationships.

If I ever feel indifferent about my work, I know that I need to search my soul to find something that excites me. The excellence in my work is a reflection of the passion with which I complete it.

Armed with passion and direction, I know that I can achieve anything. There is no limit to my endeavors. Not only can I fulfill my destiny, but I can also be an inspiration to others.
