I was created with many talents for a reason. I may not know what that reason is, but I develop them to the best of my ability to help fulfill my purpose in life.

Looking at small advantages prevents great affairs from being accomplished. - Confucius

I may not be the strongest, smartest, most beautiful, or most talented person in the world, but I am definitely not average! I purposely do many things in my life to avoid falling into the “average” trap.

I seek new knowledge to improve my talents and strengthen my skills. I read and research new ideas to find out all I can. I take classes, go to seminars, and find mentors to help me bring out my talents.

I am action-oriented. I take action every day to work toward my goals. When I come upon a challenge, I figure out a solution that can get me moving again rather than allow the situation to stall me in my quest.

I am passionate. My zest for life gives me the energy and motivation to be the best I can be. When I choose a path to travel, I go down that path full-force. I love fully, selflessly and completely.

I clarify my priorities and make decisions accordingly. I know what is important to me and live without regret.

All these things keep me from being average. I am unique, valuable, and important to this world. I know it with absolute certainty and live an extra-ordinary life that shows it.

Today, I plan to step out of the average world, discover a new talent, and take action to develop it.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. How am I unique and extra-ordinary?
2. Do I let my passion for life shine through in my daily activities?
3. What am I currently doing to develop my special talents?

I am important and valuable – to myself, my loved ones, my co-workers, and my Creator. Therefore, it is imperative that I take care of myself mentally, physically, and spiritually.

Each day I take time to relax. Generally, any activity that I enjoy does the trick. Sometimes I choose fun activities with my family or friends, while other times I prefer solitary hobbies where I can be alone with my thoughts to sort them out in my own way.

When time is short, just a few moments in a warm, fragrant bath lets me escape my worries and frustrations and I emerge refreshed with new energy. At work, I can take a break and go for a short walk, letting the fresh air and exercise rejuvenate me.

I also take time to exercise every day. Exercise lets me release my stress and produces endorphins that make me feel good all over. When I finish my exercise session, I am relaxed, energized, and ready to take on the world!

Taking care of myself gives me the health, energy, and passion to do a good job at work and still have plenty of inner resources left over to take care of my family.

It reinforces my self-esteem to know I am taking time for me because I am important.

Today, I plan to take time just for me to relax and rejuvenate my body, mind, and soul.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. Do I take time every day for myself?
2. When was the last time I did something just because I wanted to?
3. Where can I add time for exercising into my schedule?

I am maintaining momentum through exercise, setting priorities, and taking short breaks.

I realize that living the life I desire is a journey, not a sprint, and so I set my goals accordingly. I utilize strategies that can set me up for success while keeping me motivated along the way.

Exercising my body and mind brings me energy for the long haul.

Physical activity keeps me in shape, oxygenates every cell in my body to re-energize them, and keeps my brain sharp. It also produces endorphins, the feel-good hormone, which helps bolster my self-esteem and confidence.

Mental exercises are also important! Just as I physically exercise every day, I also work out my brain to maintain forward momentum. I keep my thoughts and attitudes in shape with daily affirmations for success.

Setting priorities makes for effective time management. I include my goals in my priorities and schedule time every day for tasks that point me toward success.

Taking short breaks rejuvenates me. When I take the time to relax, even for a few minutes, I find that stress melts away and l can re-focus on what I really want to do. I come back to my tasks with renewed energy, passion, and momentum.

These strategies keep me going, moving toward my goals, day in and day out. They help me overcome challenges that try to knock me off my path.

Be a man of value, not necessarily of success.

Today, I allow myself the privilege to incorporate these successful strategies into my routine so I can maintain momentum toward my goals.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. Do I exercise on a regular basis?
2. Even when life is most hectic, do I take time out for myself?
3. What are my priorities for today? Do they include tasks that move me toward success?

I actively seek out relaxation in my life.

Saying no to people is getting easier and easier as I take better control of my life. I am no longer lost in the confusion of trying to do everything for everybody. Instead, I free myself from trying to please others as I learn to say no.

The power of no frees me!

If my schedule is full and someone asks me to do something that I simply cannot do, I tell them no. I avoid the stress of trying to do too much by using a planner and scheduling things appropriately.

If someone asks me to help with something I don’t yet know how to do, I explain that someone with the right skills for the task could help them better than I. This stops me from trying to do the impossible and then failing in my commitment.

If I am called upon to miss my time with my family in order to help out someone else, I can politely decline, knowing that my family is my priority. Saying no to others gives me the time I need with my family.

Saying no also provides much-needed time for myself. Meditating, reflecting on my day, and doing the things that I enjoy can rejuvenate me and bring me the energy to be my very best in all areas of my life.

In addition, saying no when I need to enables me to successfully meet the commitments I do make. In turn, people know they can depend on me. If I commit to a task for someone, they will know with certainty that I will follow through.

Today, I choose to be careful with my commitments and only agree to those that I am sure I can accomplish.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. Do I have trouble saying no?
2. Am I able to meet all my commitments currently on my schedule?
3. How can I reduce my commitments on a regular basis to allow time for my priorities?

After all, there is only one person I have power over: myself!

Of course, I like it when people think well of me, but I let go of worrying about what they might think. It’s a waste of my time and energy and causes me undue stress. I know I do my best and that is all I can do. I accept this and am okay with it.

When I live by the Golden Rule – “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” – and remain true to myself, I am confident most people will think highly of me. If they do not, I refuse to let it bother me, since I cannot control them anyway.

I like knowing that I am in control of my own thoughts, behaviors, and actions. It sure takes the burden off my shoulders to know that the only person I need to control is me. What an uplifting revelation!

I have gratitude to bring me joy.

I have a passion for life that enables me to enjoy every minute of every day by simply living in the moment.

I have affirmations to replace negative thoughts and attitudes with the positive ones I deserve. This tool allows me all the self-improvement I could ever desire.

Armed with my tools and my understanding of how I can shape my world, I go forth confident of success. Today, I choose to live every moment true to myself, not worrying about what others might think.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. Do I fret over what others think of me?
2. What have my results been like when I’ve tried to control someone else?
3. What tools do I have that enable me to shape my surroundings?
