Photo by h.koppdelaneyPeople are attracted to me because I am a strong and independent individual with a healthy self-esteem. When I am comfortable with the person I am, I allow others to feel at ease around me.

I have realistic expectations of my friends and myself. I accept others just the way they are, without judgment. In order to have meaningful friendships, I must first be a good friend myself. Then, in return, others respect me and accept me for who I am.

My positive attitude makes me a pleasure to be around. I guard my speech to ensure that it is free from judgment and negativity, and full of laughter. Time spent with me is refreshing and peaceful.

My friends talk to me about things of substance because they know I am trustworthy. I treat my relationships like a flower, nurturing them and giving them time to blossom.

I cultivate my friendships by seeking out my friends through phone calls and invitations to connect. Spending quality time together draws us closer and reaffirms our bonds.

I deserve to have meaningful relationships and enjoy the company of others. My friends and I need each other to share gifts and talents that are unique to each one of us. Meaningful relationships are a balance of give and take.

Today, I chose to strengthen my relationships by wrapping myself in positivity and practicing acceptance. I am confident in the person I am and I attract others by expressing my true heart.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. Do I have realistic expectations of others and myself?
2. What can I do to seek out new friends or reconnect with old pals?
3. Who is one of my most meaningful friends?

A Guide to Healthy Self-Esteem

Photo by Coast Guard BMA healthy self-esteem is a starting point for a happy life. Unfortunately, when you lack self-esteem, you also lack the ability to reach your true potential. Why? Because your thoughts are truly powerful!

It All Starts With Your Beliefs

Most people have heard the statement, “If you can dream it, you can do it,” but few people actually take it to heart. For some reason big goals seem unattainable and an “I can’t” mentality takes over.

While everyone experiences negative thoughts from time to time, you may need to make an extra effort to get through these challenges. Positive thoughts must be victorious in the end!

Tips For Developing Self-Esteem

Developing a healthy self-esteem doesn’t need to be a difficult task. There are small changes you can make to get yourself on the right track.

Try following these strategies to help you develop a healthy self-esteem:

Ignore negativity from others. For some reason, many people get into the habit of putting others down. You know you shouldn’t listen to these people, but sometimes you take what they’re saying to heart. It’s especially hurtful when it’s coming from someone you love.

Some people will even steer you in the wrong direction because they think they’re doing the right thing. When it comes down to it, you’re the only one that knows yourself and your dreams. You simply can’t let anyone stand in the way!

Learn to accept compliments. You might toss off compliments as lies because some people may have ulterior motives. While this might be true, in most cases people are being genuine. After all, most people won’t go out of their way to give you a false compliment.

Accepting compliments will help you discover what you’re good at and strengthen your self-confidence.

Get a life coach. Life coaches are in the business of helping you live your life to its fullest potential. You don’t need to be scared or embarrassed to seek one out. If a life coach doesn’t seem feasible for you, you can look into getting some self-help guides.

Go online or to a local bookstore to find some relevant workbooks and resources.

Use affirmations. Affirmations are great self-esteem boosters because they show your brain what you already know you can achieve. They bring positive energy into the present moment.

You can read affirmations on the subjects of your choice or you can get into the habit of writing your own affirmations. Nothing can be more targeted to your true feelings than your own words!

Avoid comparing yourself to others. It’s easy to get into the habit of comparing yourself negatively to other people. Remind yourself that everyone is unique. You’re equipped with your own set of strengths and weaknesses, so the best thing you can do for yourself is concentrate on developing your own strengths.

Follow Your Dreams

Once you’ve worked on your initial feelings about self worth, it’s time to take a step in the right direction. A part of a healthy self-esteem is having the drive to take action toward your goals.

Have a plan and follow through. If you feel that you’ve improved your self-esteem but then fail to take action towards your dream, it will only be a matter of time before your self-esteem begins to wane again.

When you’re faced with challenges, actively seek solutions. When you do, you’ll soon notice what a positive role your healthy self-esteem plays in your life!

I am important and valuable – to myself, my loved ones, my co-workers, and my Creator. Therefore, it is imperative that I take care of myself mentally, physically, and spiritually.

Each day I take time to relax. Generally, any activity that I enjoy does the trick. Sometimes I choose fun activities with my family or friends, while other times I prefer solitary hobbies where I can be alone with my thoughts to sort them out in my own way.

When time is short, just a few moments in a warm, fragrant bath lets me escape my worries and frustrations and I emerge refreshed with new energy. At work, I can take a break and go for a short walk, letting the fresh air and exercise rejuvenate me.

I also take time to exercise every day. Exercise lets me release my stress and produces endorphins that make me feel good all over. When I finish my exercise session, I am relaxed, energized, and ready to take on the world!

Taking care of myself gives me the health, energy, and passion to do a good job at work and still have plenty of inner resources left over to take care of my family.

It reinforces my self-esteem to know I am taking time for me because I am important.

Today, I plan to take time just for me to relax and rejuvenate my body, mind, and soul.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. Do I take time every day for myself?
2. When was the last time I did something just because I wanted to?
3. Where can I add time for exercising into my schedule?

I have a healthy self-esteem because I know I am a unique and priceless individual. My love is pure and unselfish. I strive to be the very best I can be.

Regardless of my efforts at self-improvement, I do not aim for perfection, as that would be impossible. I am happy about where I am and also look forward to where I will be tomorrow.

My past experiences have molded me into what I am today. They are different from the experiences of any other person on this earth, making me totally unique. No one is just like me! I love my subtle differences and am grateful for them.

The important is to be able, at any moment, to sacrifice what we are for what we could become. - Charles Dubois

I am valuable to my loved ones. I make it a point to make time for my family every day. I support and nurture them and show my love for them in my thoughts, words, and actions. They know that whenever they need me, I am there for them.

I am valuable to my co-workers. I strive to do a fine job at work and foster a pleasant working atmosphere. I help my co-workers whenever I can lend a hand.

Sure, it takes time, energy, and effort to live my life this way, but it is the way that fulfills me and makes me the irreplaceable person I am.

Today, I want to shine!

At my workplace, I plan to be a positive force for productivity. At home, I intend to instill a happy aura that everyone enjoys. And for myself, I choose to meditate and reflect on the good things of the day before I retire in the evening.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. How am I valuable to myself and others?
2. Do I feel lovable? How can I strengthen this feeling?
3. What makes me irreplaceable?
